The stadium is located close to the junction of Gallowgate, St. James' Boulevard and Barrack Road, just a ten-minute walk from Newcastle Central Station and around five minutes from Monument Metro Station and the city's major bus stations. Simply follow the pedestrian signs located throughout the city centre.

There are no unreserved public car parks on event days at St. James' Park and traffic restrictions may be in place.

Instead, we strongly recommend using public transport to reach the stadium, or if you're feeling fit then cycling is one of the healthiest ways of getting to the match. There are 35 'Sheffield stands' located around the stadium for you to lock your bicycle at.

There is no dedicated supporter parking available at St. James' Park on matchdays.

If you're travelling by car, allow extra time for traffic around Newcastle city centre. Several public car parks are located within walking distance of the stadium, but availability may be limited on busier matchdays.

St. James' Park is one of the most accessible stadiums in the country, with Metro, rail and bus links all within walking distance.

Metro

St. James' Metro Station sits directly beside the stadium.

Monument Station is around five minutes away on foot and offers connections across Tyne and Wear, including Newcastle Airport, Sunderland and South Shields.

Bus

Haymarket and Eldon Square bus stations are both within easy walking distance of St. James' Park.

Magpie Mover

Magpie Mover

The Magpie Mover gives Season Ticket Holders and Mags+ Members an easy and affordable way to travel on matchdays.

It can be used on selected bus, Metro, ferry and rail services across Tyne and Wear including:

  • Arriva, Stagecoach and Go North East bus services*

  • Nexus Metro services*

  • Shields Ferry*

  • Sunderland to Blaydon rail services

Tickets are valid for one direct journey up to three hours before kick-off and can be used for return travel from Newcastle city centre until the end of service.

Road Closures

St. James' Park

Road Closures

To help supporters leave the stadium safely, a section of Barrack Road will be closed to traffic following the final whistle.

The closure will remain in place for up to 45 minutes after full-time, or until crowds have dispersed.

Diversions & Travel Updates

During the closure:

  • Vehicles will be diverted via Westgate Road, Brighton Grove and Stanhope Street

  • Stagecoach services that normally stop on Barrack Road will be diverted and passengers may need to use alternative bus stops

  • The X50 Soccer Bus to the MetroCentre Park & Ride will pick up from the top of St. James' Boulevard, outside the Citygate building

Please allow extra time for your journey home and follow instructions from stewards and local authorities.
