The George Stephenson High School pupil, son of former Magpies forward Paul, signed a two-year full-time scholarship in the summer of 2023 and enjoyed a bright campaign in front of goal, scoring seven goals in the Under-18 Premier League North.

'Brassy' made his debut for United at under-21 level in an EFL Trophy encounter against Crewe Alexandra during the 2022/23 campaign and made his first start for the young Magpies during a Premier League 2 clash against West Bromwich Albion in February 2024.

Joe concluded the 2024/25 season with 14 goals, finishing as the Under-18s' top goalscorers after netting ten times in the Under-18 Premier League North campaign, as well as recording seven assists.
