Newcastle United Women head coach Becky Langley is hopeful her side are "clinical" in attack ahead of hosting Bristol City Women in the Women's Super League 2 on Sunday.

Langley was upbeat as she spoke to the media and is keen to see her players carry the momentum of Sunday's 2-2 away draw against Crystal Palace Women into this weekend’s game, looking to record their first home win of the season.

The United manager also gave a mention to Jasmine McQuade who, earlier this week, received her first call-up to the Scotland Under-23s squad.

Here are some of the boss’ main talking points from her weekly pre-match media briefing ahead of Sunday's battle…

On carrying last week’s momentum into Sunday’s match…

"The way we ended the game, we really harness that spirit, fight, and it was a good end to the game, scoring two goals and we could have almost won it in the last minute with Morgan [Gautrat].

"We were disappointed not to come away with all three points, and we felt we were the stronger team in those last 20 minutes, and the momentum was with us."

On Jasmine McQuade’s Scotland Under-23s call-up…

"It's brilliant for Jas. She’s a talented player who’s obviously been through our pathway and someone that I’m very fond of in terms of her playing capabilities.

She’s a very skilful player, she’s got a natural talent in terms of her creativity. She had a flavour for the England under-23s last season for the first time, and now she’s got the opportunity with the Scottish national team."

On what she wants to see from her players against Bristol City…

"I think we need to start on the front foot like we ended the game against Palace, and I think the fans want to see a high-energy press.

"Our fans will be looking for us to be really threatening in wide areas and get multiple opportunities to cross the ball in the 18-yard area, but we have to be clinical in those moments."

On Morgan Gautrat’s impact on and off the pitch…

"She’s a brilliant player and an even better person. Some of her leadership this week for me and the group has been outstanding.

"This isn’t pressure for her; she was aged 21 at a World Cup. She’s settled in really well and has been phenomenal in her support for me and the players."
