Tanya Oxtoby’s side made it two wins in seven days at the Gateshead International Stadium thanks to first-half goals from Shania Hayles and Emily Murphy, before Jasmine McQuade added a lovely fourth in the second half.
There were three changes from Monday’s home win against Southampton Women, with Jemma Purfield, Jasmine McQuade and Emily Murphy coming into the starting lineup, with the latter making a big impact as she opened her FA Cup account for the season.
The Lasses came firing out of the blocks when Oona Sevenius reacted quickest to some pinball action in the box by volleying towards goal after just 120 seconds, but was denied by a last-ditch block.
United’s number nine was growing into the game and starting to give the Feds' defence a lot to think about, none more so than when she fired a low shot from inside the box but was deflected onto the foot of the post.
However, the woodwork could only save the hosts on that one occasion, as after 20 minutes when Hayles once again broke free and latched onto a perfectly weighted through ball from Jasmine McQuade.
The Jamaican international showed great composure by bursting into the box and calmly slotting beyond Eva Spencer.
With the hosts camped inside their own half, time began to tick on, but there was enough left on the clock for Hayles to add a second when she found herself unmarked in the six-yard box to nod home Jordan Nobbs’ in-swinging corner.
If not for Spencer in the Feds' goal, there would’ve been a third for United two minutes later, but she denied Murphy, who swept the ball goalwards from inside the box after some electric play down the wing from McQuade.
However, Newcastle managed to find a third goal, and Murphy was not to be denied this time. A deep cross from Oona Sevenius was met and recycled back into the box by Charlotte Wardlaw, with the ball landing at Murphy, who found the back of the net with seconds left of the first half.
Despite a three-goal deficit, the visitors were spirited in the opening exchanges of the second half but were almost undone after the hour mark when a delicate Nobbs ball through to Beth Lumsden was marginally poked wide of the far post.
The visitors held a very firm and solid defensive line in the second half that, at times, United struggled to get behind, so a piece of individual brilliance was going to be required.
That happened with eight minutes left to play when McQuade danced her way through the Feds' defence from the right before curling an effort into the bottom corner, leaving Spencer with no chance.
Newcastle’s fourth goal appeared to flick a switch for the Lasses as they almost added a fourth moments later, first of all, Lumsden was denied by Spencer after bursting into the left-hand side of the box, before Murphy’s rebounded effort was pushed onto the post by the inspired shot-stopper.
