The Toon teenagers netted twice in the first half at the Magpies' Little Benton Academy as Alfie Seldon opened the scoring, the 16-year-old's fifth goal in his opening six league games at Under-18 level, before midfielder Sam Alabi doubled the hosts' lead on the stroke of half-time.

Alfie Hutchison, who made his Scotland Under-19s debut last month, extended Newcastle's advantage further in the closing stages, the Dunfermline-born striker's seventh league goal of the current campaign.

The 17-year-old forward, who signed his first professional contract with the Magpies in February, was unable to add gloss to the scoreline after missing a penalty but Chris Moore's side comfortably saw out the contest, recording a third successive clean sheet in all competitions.

Newcastle's youngsters are currently situated in second place of the 15-team table, moving level on points with table-toppers Manchester City and return to league action on Saturday, 24th October when facing an away clash against Middlesbrough (kick-off 11am BST).
