Beth Lumsden has been named Newcastle United Women's Sela Player of the Month for April.

The forward registered a goal and an assist in the month, with both of her contributions coming in the Magpies' 6-0 win against Blackburn Rovers. She also won the penalty for Shania Hayles' 12th goal of the season in the 1-1 draw against Charlton Athletic.

Lumsden has enjoyed an impressive campaign for Newcastle United Women, bagging seven goals and two assists, and is pleased to be ending the season with an individual award.

"It is coming towards the end of the season, so it is really nice to be winning one before it finishes," she said.

"The goal against Blackburn was a personal highlight, and it was obviously really good to get a big win."

Having recently signed a new contract, the forward feels she has found her form in recent months with the close of the 2024/25 campaign coming at the wrong time.

"I think I'm in a good place physically with football at the minute," she added. "The off-season is coming at the wrong time for me personally, but hopefully I can carry this form into next season with me.

"I think it's credit to everyone around me - the players, staff, the city, and the fans. I'm in a happy place and hopefully that projects onto the pitch."

The Magpies' season draws to a close on Sunday with a trip to take on Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park, and Lumsden is aiming to see out the season with a win.

"It would be nice to end the season on a win, we are confident going into the game and we have prepared for it as we do every game. Hopefully we get the three points and end it on a high."
