The Magpies make their English top-flight bow at the Coventry Building Society Arena and head coach Matthias Jaissle has made a sole change from last month's 2-1 win against Hull City as González replaces Sean Steur in the middle of the park, with the Dutch teenager dropping to the bench.

Goalkeeper Lukáš Horníček, who made his competitive debut for Czechia during the recent international break, continues in-between the sticks.

Malick Thiaw, who captains the visitors tonight, partners Sven Botman in central defence while Lewis Miley and Lewis Hall are likely to occupy the defensive flanks.

Willock, who has scored three goals in all competitions so far this season, is in midfield alongside González, who missed Newcastle's victory against Hull after suffering a concussion against Leeds United.

Former Coventry loanee Jacob Murphy, Yoane Wissa and Harvey Barnes aim to provide attacking support for Matias Fernandez-Pardo, who targets a first Magpies goal since last summer's transfer from LOSC Lille.

A number of Magpies players have made welcomed returns to the matchday squad after suffering respective injuries, with Dan Burn, Amar Dedić, Joelinton and Will Osula all named as substitutes.

Fabian Schär, Aladji Bamba and Bazoumana Touré are also named on the bench while Nick Pope is the substitute goalkeeper.

Newcastle take on Coventry in an English top-flight encounter for the first time since January 2001 as goals from Gary Speed, Shola Ameobi and Kieron Dyer inspired the Magpies to a 3-1 victory at St. James' Park.

United target an eight successive win against the Sky Blues, who currently lie in the relegation zone, and can move into fourth place of the English top-flight this evening should they record maximum points.
